• Star-Making Role: Sutton Foster was a struggling actress, only really known among fans of Grease and Les Misérables for her national tour portrayals of Sandy and Éponine. But then Kristin Chenoweth, who was originally cast as Millie in the Broadway production, had to bow out, and Erin Dilly, who initially replaced her, left due to conflict with the creative team. Foster took on the role for the Broadway opening, which made the show a hit, won her the Tony and launched Foster into one of the most successful actresses on Broadway (over the next decade, she'd earn five more Tony noms with another win in 2011).
