• Awesome Moments: Thidwick getting rid of his "guests" by shedding his antlers at the end.
• Heartwarming Moments: At the end of the book, Thidwick migrates and reunites with his herd. It is nice to see him reconcile with his friends, after all he went through.
• Jerkass Woobie: Many regard Thidwick’s guests as this, finding them obnoxious, but not convinced they deserved death.
• Moral Event Horizon: Thidwick's guests step very close to the line when they refuse to let Thidwick migrate, and eventually cross it when they still refuse even when he is cornered by hunters.
