- Awesome Music: The album Odessey and Oracle is often considered this.
- Covered Up:
- Their 1965 B-side "I Love You" became a big American hit for California rockers Peoplenote in 1968.
- A cover of "She's Not There" became a hit for Santana in the '70s.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: They were regarded as an One-Hit Wonder in the UK after "She's Not There". They had much more influence and chart success in America (not to mention Latin America, Japan and the Philippines).
- Harsher in Hindsight: All the couples mentioned in "Friends of Mine" were real people the band knew... and all broke up after the song was released.
- Nightmare Fuel: "Butcher's Tale (Western Front 1914)" is either this or completely heartbreaking.
- Signature Song: "Time of the Season"
- Tear Jerker: "A Rose for Emily", "Butcher's Tale".
- Vindicated by History: Odessey and Oracle was virtually ignored upon release. Then "Time of the Season" became a hit after they broke up.
