- Genius Bonus:
- In Classical Mythology, Tithonus was a man who was given eternal life, but not eternal youth, and wasted away as he became older until he turned into a cicada. At no point is this story or the name referenced in the episode out of the title.
- It is common to take Mulder's discovery that Fellig is 149 years old at face value, and to assume that he became immortal around the time of The Spanish Flu in 1918-1920, judging by how he perpetually looks 65 years old. However, this is actually a minimum estimate, since Fellig may have used another birthdate in a previous file that Mulder failed to uncover. In addition, Fellig doesn't talk about the Flu, but about the Fever. He mentions that Washington State Park was a mass grave for fever victims back then and that they buried them in yellow sheets. NYC's WSP was a mass grave for Yellow Fever victims before 1825. This puts his birth back into the 1700s.
- Spiritual Sequel: To "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose". In both episodes, Scully makes a connection with an elderly man who is suspected of a crime he didn't commit, who considers his supernatural ability a curse, and who can know when or how someone is about to die, but not the other.
