• Romantic Plot Tumor: The constant romantic and sexual tension between the main characters in each story arc can be quite annoying with practically everyone acting horny and/or overly romantic in inappropriate moments, and it's so constant it pushes aside the interesting science-fiction elements of the comics.
  • In the Bételgeuse arc, Kim becomes the focus of romantic and sexual attraction of no less than five men despite her not doing anything special. On top of that, three of them barely know her and one of the remaining two is an alien who's been stalking her for years.
  • The Survivant arc has a complicated love square between four of the main characters, with Alex who keeps changing his stance on whether he loves Ilse or Manon.
  • In Antares, Mai Lan develops a sexual attraction to Kim's boyfriend Marc out of nowhere, and ends up making a pass at him behind Kim's back. Not only is this completely random, but Mai Lan chooses to strike at a wildly inappropriate time (out in the open, with other people nearby including three minors, surrounded by local fauna that hates them and wants them dead), not to mention that it seems wildly uncharacteristic that she would suddenly prioritize a fling with Marc over her friendship with Kim.
