YMMV / The World of Henry Orient

Go To

  • Awesome Music: No surprise, since the score was written by Elmer Bernstein.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Val is a teenage girl who has a Precocious Crush on an older man. In real life, Tippy Walker, the actress who played the role, would admit she had an affair during filming with George Roy Hill, even though she was only 17 and he was 44.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • Values Dissonance: No one seems to have a problem with Valerie and Marian pretending to be Chinese; even Isabel Boyd, who gets upset when she finds out about Valerie's crush on Henry, is merely amused by their pretending to be Chinese. Also, in one of their adventures, they pretend to be two white nurses trying to hide from being raped by Chinese.
    • Valerie also goes around wearing a fur coat, which was still a status symbol at the time, but is frowned on today.
