YMMV / The World According to Jeff Goldblum

Go To

  • Adorkable: Much, if not most, of the show's humor derives from the sight of a near-70-year-old actor and jazz musician primarily associated with Gibbering Genius and/or Tall, Dark, and Snarky characters — characters who are not that far off from his public persona — stepping out of his element to explore the creation of and subcultures behind each episode's subject matter, often interacting with people substantially younger than he in the process. In "Sneakers" alone he attends a sneaker convention, participates in a game of street court basketball with actual NBA and WNBA players, and is tutored on how to host a YouTube unboxing video, among other things.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: "RVs" notes that recreational vehicles are enjoying a rise in popularity, but they ended up getting a huge uptick in sales and use in 2020 due to Americans using them for enjoying socially-distanced travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, making the episode more relevant now than when it originally aired.
  • Memetic Mutation: "No, I'm not the guy from the old Ghostbusters..." note
  • Pop Culture Holiday: The final stretch of "Tattoos" has him surprising the attendees of the second annual "Jeff Goldblum Day" celebration in his hometown of Pittsburgh, which originated at a tattoo parlor. The day in question, July 13, was officially declared this in the city back in 2004, while he was performing in a regional production of The Music Man.
