  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Claire is subject to this, as she's mostly an offscreen character. As the film goes on, she's shown to be a Woobie who may have been a Stepford Smiler - everyone is surprised at the sudden break-up, and Dick's Jerkass behaviour is slowly revealed. But some of Dick's behaviour seems to hint that Claire could be controlling and possessive - suggesting that he wasn't the only one responsible for the marriage imploding. The fact that Claire wants a quickie divorce without an assets conflict seems to say that she realised how destructive the marriage was - since if it was completely one-sided, she'd likely want to punish Dick a bit more.
  • Angst? What Angst?: Tommy is rather blase about the fact that he caught his wife and best friend together. While he's annoyed at first, it's as if it never happened by the morning.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The aforementioned hook-up between Dick and Jessie comes a little out of nowhere and doesn't get mentioned at all. All it seems to do is foreshadow that Dick isn't exactly as sympathetic as he looks.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Dick makes a joke about his wife getting killed by a plane propeller. Becomes a little less funny when it's revealed the woman he's making the joke to actually lost her husband.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Neil has a problem with the thread on his jacket and asks Dick for some scissors. This is amusing to Band of Brothers fans - as an episode features Doc Roe trying to scrounge scissors as a Running Gag. And he eventually nicks them from Perconte, played by James Madio (Neil's actor).
    • Dick makes a joke about his wife getting killed by a plane propeller. This is before he hooks up with a woman who survived a plane crash only to die in a bus crash.
  • Ho Yay: There's quite a bit of it between Dick and Neil. The chemistry between them is understandable since the two actors are best friends in real life.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Dick is a real piece of work but it's hard not to feel sorry for him on the various activities. Especially the wine tasting tour. An entire bus and restaurant reserved for twenty people and he looks incredibly sad amid the seats with reserved labels on them. It helps that Lenny is there too however.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: A good portion of the movie's viewers are Band of Brothers fans watching to see Rick Gomez, James Madio, Richard Speight Jr and Frank John Hughes (briefly) star together.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Neil appears in little snippets, but James Madio is very memorable. The highlight is him telling Dick not to get a divorce because his horoscope warns against it.
  • Stoic Woobie: Lenny fell out of love with her husband, but he turned out to be terminally ill. So she stayed with him to take care of him, also for the sake of their son. She's not particularly weepy about this and she remains composed as she tells Dick all about it.
