- Hilarious in Hindsight: This isn't the last time Ryan Reynolds will play a killer with a pair of voices in his head (though that aspect was Adapted Out of his version of the character).
- Squick: Jerry's home is actually disgustingly filthy, though he doesn't see it this way thanks to his hallucinations. See Uncleanliness Is Next to Ungodliness on the main page.
- The Woobie:
- Jerry is a disturbed lonely man with quite a dark past. A flashback shows that his mother heard voices too, and that he was institutionalized for several years after helping her to commit suicide.
- Poor Lisa. She finally gets a date with Jerry after he had been ignoring her for Fiona and she ends up as a disembodied head in his refrigerator.
