- Broken Base: The art work. Livio Ramondelli has gained more fans than he had back in Chaos, and many would say his RID fill-ins and Autocracy were improvements, but there is still a point of contention among his art. There's even a new camp that finds itself divided on the art. Some panels are gorgeous, some panels lack detail and look smudgy.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Dai Atlas gets hit with it here. He can be written as a Reasonable Authority Figure with legitimate points; see the flashback issues in The Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Other IDW comics (The Drift Mini-series for example) made Dai Atlas look like a sort of wise figure for leaving Cybertron with a group of cybertronians that did not want to be involved in the war and instead dedicate themselves to enlightenment. Here, he comes across as a insufferable holier than thou asshole who never really gave Optimus Prime a chance due to his own prejudices.
