YMMV / The Super Inframan

Go To

  • Complete Monster: Princess Dragon Mom is a tyrannical monarch who desires to conquer the Earth and enslave humanity. Awakening from her slumber, she proceeds to cause untold amounts of earthquakes and fires that kill over 10,000 people, threatening the Earth with either enslavement or death. Choosing to instead kill more humans, she sends her minions out with orders to destroy various Japanese cities. After Inframan wipes them out, Princess Dragon Mom proceeds to capture Professor Liu to create an Inframan of her own that she will use to wipe out humanity, torturing his assistant Ming and turning him into one of her slaves while also threatening Liu's daughter with murder.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Danny Lee, who plays the titular Inframan and fights plenty of monsters depicted as People in Rubber Suits, would later become a monster in a rubber suit himself in a later Shaw production, Oily Maniac.
    • Danny Lee and Terry Liu (Inframan and Dragon Mom) plays in-laws in Killers on Wheels, released a year before Inframan.
    • Inframan has various ideas ripped off from Ultraman, but his most powerful attack, Thunder and Lightning Aura, which is executed by crossing his arms into an "X" shape, releasing an energy beam from the cross-point at his wrists, is an entirely original idea. Decades later, Ultraman X would have the Xanadium Beam, which greatly resembles the Thunder and Lightning Aura. What's even better is that Ultraman X comes out in 2015, the year where Inframan is supposedly set in.
    • Princess Dragon Mom awakens from a ten million year hibernation and tries to take over the earth. This is very similar to Rita Repulsa's backstory of awakening after ten thousand years in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
  • Memetic Mutation: Courtesy of Cinemassacre's review: Inframan does something. BOOM! Something explodes.
  • Narm Charm: The major reason you'd want to see this is the unintentional hilarity. Roger Ebert put it best when he said "When they stop making movies like Infra-Man, a little light will go out of the world."
