YMMV / The Stranger (Album)

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The Title Track, "The Stranger", didn't chart in the United States, but hit #2 in Japan, and #8 in New Zealand. The album itself reached #3 in Japan, selling 377,000 copies there to earn Gold certification.
  • Signature Song: "Just the Way You Are" and "She's Always a Woman" are easily the best-known songs here, with "Movin' Out" and "Only the Good Die Young" not far behind. However, the album is also known for the presence of two essential album tracks by Joel: "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" - a jazz-rock suite which is widely regarded as a classic and one of the artist's best songs - and "Vienna", which has become extremely popular on streaming services and is now a firm fan favorite. Joel as well loves the two album tracks, indeed.
