- Esoteric Happy Ending: The alien Lummox, gets to keep her Human Pet John Thomas. Earth considers it a good deal as it opens diplomatic relationships and trade-deals with the otherwise unapproachable Hroshian empire. Consequently opening the door for every Hroshii wanting a Human Pet to gain their queen's favor.
- Heartwarming Moments: Lummox's love for humans. It's easy for a human to love what is essentially a massive alien dinosaur, but the Hroshii are Sufficiently Advanced Aliens that have indifference or utter disdain towards all other aliens species across the universe who are all technologically and psychologically inferior to them. Humans are like bugs to them. Yet Lummox adored John's ancestor so much she wanted to raise his children, and his children's children, and so on, forever.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: When the Undersecretary for Spatial Affairs, Mr. Kiku (a Kenyan national) chastises his subordinate Sergei Greenberg he demands to know what mail-order law school he got his degree from. Kiku is not impressed when the reply is Harvard. While amusing in itself, some fifty odd years later, we have an offspring of a Kenyan bureaucrat as President of the US and who was a graduate of Harvard Law.
