• Jerkass Woobie: Walt and Frank. The former is a pretentious, self-centered jerk who mistreats his girlfriend and plagiarizes a song just to get attention, while the latter engages in Troubling Unchildlike Behavior such as drinking beer and masturbating at school. Nonetheless, it's very obvious that all of this irrationality and unpleasant behavior stems from them being thrown into the jarring and frustrating reality of watching their parents divorce, neither of whom was that great at parenting beforehand.
• Retroactive Recognition: Alexandra Daddario, in her film debut, as a pretty girl (credited as such) who eyes Walt seductively for a split second after the talent show.
• Squick: Frank masturbating at school and wiping the semen off of his hands on various books and lockers at school.
