YMMV / The Simpsons S8 E10 "The Springfield Files"

• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: A cutaway to the swamp where the Budweiser Frogs appear, with talking their signature "Bud", "Weis", "Er" lines, only for all three to be eaten a second later in one gulp by a large alligator who then says the brand "Coors!" No one talks about it afterward and there's no reason for the scene to exist in the episode except for the obvious Rule of Funny.
• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Now that Disney owns Fox, the fact that the alien line-up has ALF (Paul Fusco property) and Marvin the Martian (Warner Bros. property) in what the producers of the episode called "the most illegal shot in the history of the show" just becomes much more hilarious. The lineup also feature Chewbacca, whose franchise, Star Wars was also acquired by Disney in 2012, thereby making the shot less "illegal".
  • A year later, The X-Files actually would have an episode with flesh-eating bacteria.
• Memetic Mutation: Using "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down" as a jokey alternate title for Speed occasionally pops up in social media.
• Unintentional Period Piece:
  • Bart's "scary" story of how incredibly expensive college would be by the time Maggie grows up dates the episode to the 90's, since college back then wasn't as expensive as it is now.
  • The joke about how the alien has a sweet heavenly voice (like Urkel) and appears every Friday night (like Urkel) is also a very 90s-centric joke, as is the "Boris Yeltsin" level on the Breathalyzer.
  • The mention about Sonny Bono being a politician now dates the episode to the mid-90's at the latest, as Bono would pass away less than a year after the episode aired.
