• Aluminum Christmas Trees: Kent Brockman reports on Krusty being arrested for "tax avoision", despite his crewmembers insisting he say "evasion". "Tax avoision" is a real term, though Kent wasn't using it correctly: It's a portmanteau of "tax avoidance" (lowering your paid taxes legally) and "tax evasion" (lowering them illegally), and refers to methods of tax reduction that are ambiguously legal.
• Informed Wrongness: Bart and Lisa claim Krusty is wrong for wanting to escape his celebrity life and work as a salvager. But considering how harshly he was punished for his tax evasion and how his celebrity life has ruined his health, one would think would be happier in his blue-collar position.
• Jerkass Woobie: Krusty deserved getting in trouble for tax fraud, but his suffering is still sad to watch.
• Memetic Mutation: The Cayman Islands "Oh, Crap!" scene was subject to much mutation when the "Panama Papers" story broke in 2016.
• One-Scene Wonder:
  • Handsome Pete.
  • And the Cayman Islands Banker.
• Values Resonance: The issue of wealthy people and entities dodging taxes has gained greater prominence with the Panama Papers and offshore banking.
