YMMV / The Simpsons S6E24 "Lemon of Troy"

Go To

  • Fan Nickname: The Groundskeeper of Shelbyville Elementary School (whose official name has been revealed to be Wilma in The Simpsons: Tapped Out) is called "Millie" by fans.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • When confronted by Marge about his graffiti-ing, Marge asks Bart what Jebediah would think of it, and Bart just thinks Jebediah would be okay with it. Next season, in "Lisa the Iconoclast," it would turn out Jebediah hated Springfield and its inhabitants, so yes, he probably would have been okay with it.
    • Bart mentions Springfield has many angel sightings. There was an angel skeleton discovered in "Lisa the Skeptic."
    • Todd is described as the quiet, religious guy who eventually goes crazy. Although Todd barely does anything vital in this episode, his description kind of describes his father's fate in "Hurricane Neddy" a couple seasons later.
    • Also when Bart attempts to use aerosol cans to fly away. There was a Canadian Series called My Secret Identity whose main character used cans early in his training to fly.
    • Luanne mentioning that she's from Shelbyville, where they marry their cousins, becomes this after it's revealed later on that she and Kirk are cousins.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Stupider like a fox!"
    • Homer's Shelbyvillian counterpart's face scrunching after he bites on a lemon.
    • "Shake (your fist) harder, boy!"
    • The shot of Grandpa Simpson sitting on a tree stump surrounded by Bart and other children as they listen to him tell a tale is often used as a meme for older generations telling the new ones about how life was back then, for example, how very few people had Internet so those without it had to play Windows Pinball or Minesweeper to kill boredom.
  • Squick: With the lemon tree gone, the citizens of Shelbyville have to make do with another ingredient to make cool summer drinks out of. The ending shows that they drank beverages made from turnips.
