- Harsher in Hindsight: The season 15 episode "The Way We Weren't" reveals that when he was Bart's age Homer attended a Summer Camp of Horrors of his own—Camp See-A-Tree, a camp for impoverished youths with no heat or running water where campers spent most of their time working in the kitchen of a nearby girl's camp to help pay lawyer fees due to the deaths of no fewer than 12 campers in years prior. His laughing off Lisa's letter makes a lot of sense.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Season 11's "Behind the Laughter" also carries on the tradition of a non-Commonwealth native also being properly "knighted", like Gary Coleman (who previously guest-starred earlier in the season in the Christmas Episode "Grift of the Magi") later had a "Sir" added to his name.
- Padding: The Kamp Krusty song adds little to the story, as noted by the creators on the DVD Commentary.
- Spiritual Successor: The best animated or TV adaptation of William Butler's The Butterfly Revolution, albeit Lighter and Softer owing to it airing on prime-time network television.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Mr. Black was seen as an interesting villain of the Corrupt Corporate Executive variety, but aside from an appearance in the comics, he never returned.
- Unintentional Period Piece:
- Krusty refers to Ivan Lendl (who retired in 1994) when he's in Wimbledon and questions from the reporters about an affair between him and Lady Diana (who died in a car crash in 1997) clearly set this episode temporally in the early 1990s.
- When Kent Brockman comments that he has reported on Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, he was referring to the 1964-75 American involvement in Vietnam (despite the withdrawal of combat troops in 1973, the Americans maintained a Saigon embassy and "advisors" for the remaining two years of the Saigon government's existance) (a journalist old enough to have been based in South Vietnam in the 1960s and 70s would have long since retired by now), the 1979-89 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the 1991 Persian Gulf War (much less likely is the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s). Not the 2001 war in Afghanistan or the 2003 war in Iraq.
