• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • The Gator Baiter getting eaten alive by a gator became this when a stingray killed Steve Irwin three years afterward.
  • While the Springfieldians are taking away every kid friendly aspect in Springfield, they changed the Toys R Us. Moe switches the backwards "R" into a normal "R", making the children cry. In 2018, Toys R Us went out of business^note (in the UK and the US respectively, international subsidiaries still operate), making real-life children, whether current or former, sad just like the kids in Springfield.
• Unintentional Period Piece:
  • Lindsay Naegle expresses her desire for profanity on broadcast television. During the second half of the '90s and early '00s, American broadcast networks increasingly pushed the envelope, with the inclusion of full nudity and blue language, most famously the sex scenes and the constant use of "shit" on NYPD Blue, being the next logical step... until the Super Bowl halfime scandal (which occurred just weeks after the episode's first airing) largely put an end to that. Even as premium cable (cf. HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime), basic cable(cf. AMC, f(x), Paramount Network(formerly Spike TV) and later streaming productions continued to push the boundaries well into R-rated territory, broadcast networks retreated to PG to PG-13 levels of sex(depending on the shows and networks) and bad language while keeping the violence at PG-13, despite cultural changes.
  • A joke about a Steve Irwin Expy being killed by one of the wild animals he encounters for his show dates the episode before 2006, when that very thing happened.
  • One of the gags about Homer's Epic Fail attempt at making advertisement for Marge's anti-proposal is subliminal messaging with a picture of Rudy Giuliani, which places the episode between 2001 and 2018 when he was still seen as "America's Mayor".
  • The features a reference to Radio Disney, which went defunct in 2021.
• Woolseyism: As neither the Blue Man Group nor the Mummenschanz are well known in Italy, in the Italian dub Marge states that the Teletubbies make the seven dwarves look like The Smurfs.
