- Hilarious in Hindsight: Combined with Alternative Character Interpretation; at the leprechaun and gypsy's wedding, Kodos remarks that he "always secretes ocular fluid at weddings". As revealed just seventeen episodes later in Gump Roast, this is actually the Rigellian equivalent of vomiting. Ergo, depending on whether or not Negative Continuity is in play: does Kodos find weddings moving, or sickening?
- Just Here for Godzilla: Many fans love the second segment "House of Whacks" the best due to both being the funniest one of the episode and for having Pierce Brosnan as the voice of the Ultra House.
- Shallow Parody: Quite a few fans and critics criticized "Wiz Kids" for this. Indeed, the writers admitted they didn't spend a lot of time researching the Harry Potter books beforehand, as even the first film had not yet been released. J. K. Rowling, for her part, said she found it funny and guest-starred in "The Regina Monologues".
- Unintentional Period Piece: As a Harry Potter parody that predates the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, "Wiz Kids" leans more into 'generic Wizarding School' than Harry Potter specifically, dating the episode to a time before the film series gave the setting of Hogwards its distinctive visual identity that most people would recognise.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The witch who cursed Homer. Sure, he crossed the line when messing up her room, but she could have cursed him rather than his loved ones. Bart dies as a result, and at least three other people, Lenny, Carl and Moe do too. What's more, she doesn't remove the curse by the end despite Homer finding love for her (unwittingly, but still) because he refused to apologize.
