- Broken Base: "Night of the Dolphins". Some fans consider it one of the funniest, most clever and memorable segments, while others consider it boring, confusing, and depressing.
- Crosses the Line Twice:
- Homer accidentally dropping Agnes Skinner to her demise? Horrible. Justifying himself by claiming she would be the next Hitler? Hilarious.
- St. Peter conveniently missing Homer's good deed is a Cruel Twist Ending. The following exchange, however?Homer: (muttering) Well, I'll be damned.St. Peter: I'm afraid so, yes.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Snorky's lament of the humiliation and abuse he and his fellow dolphins were put through becomes even worse in the wake of Blackfish, a documentary about the conditions leading to real-life cetaceans in capture becoming violent towards humans.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: While at the drive-through, Homer seems to understand what the dolphin is saying. Season 22's "Homer The Father" establishes that he understands food talk in every language.
- Strawman Has a Point: Homer might have been denied entry into Heaven anyway because saving the baby really was an accident.
- Take That, Scrappy!: Homer accidentally drops Agnes Skinner mid-flight. Adding to this, Homer tries to argue she'd be the next Hitler.
