- Alternative Joke Interpretation: After Homer successfully bowls a perfect 300 game, the bowling attendants use a Two-Keyed Lock... which drops a measly "300" balloon. Were they totally unprepared for a 300 game, or does it happen so often that they don't bother preparing for it, anymore?
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Itchy and Scratchy, who are from an In-Universe animated series, appear on Springfield Squares alongside "real" people. Back then, the idea of humans competing in a game show alongside cartoon characters was ridiculous, which was part of the joke. Then came Skatoony, a game show where real-world kids competed alongside animated characters.
- Memetic Mutation: "Oh no, not Lenny!". After Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmeister's death in 2015, it got snowcloned into "Oh no, not Lemmy!".
