• More Popular Spin-Off: They were originally a side-project of Flake Music, a band who released a single studio album and weren't very well-known outside of their hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Most of the same musicians played on both Flake Music's When You Land Here, It's Time To Return and The Shins' Oh, Inverted World, and Flake Music had a song called "The Shins".
• Never Live It Down: They will forever be associated with that one scene in Garden State.
