YMMV / The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross

  • Fan Nickname:
    • In order to avoid confusion, each version of a character is referred to as "Red/Blue/Green x".
    • In the same vein as Regend, Twigo is referred to as "Twigod" due to his ease of ascension and awakening materials, animations in gameplay, and being an alternative to other broken Strength units such as Lostvayne Meliodas and Escanor.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Red units:
      • Derieri: While her Green version is no slouch either, her Red version definitely is. Her first skill increases her basic stats and while her only attack is basic, her unique skill stacks her attack until 10 as long as her cards are in the deck. She can solo a Raid Boss and is one of the most used units in both PvE and PvP.
      • Lostvayne Meliodas: When it comes to crits in a Red unit, he is exceptional and a monster when equipped with Gear that increases his crit damage. His first skill is the same as Green Escanor (increases his ultimate move gauge on lvl. 2 and above), his second is an Area of Effect attack that ignores defense, and his unique skill increases his first and second skill's ranks when he receives crit damage.
      • Gowther: Ever since his release, he's been one of the most versatile and frequently used characters in the game for all forms of content, thanks to his second skill, which increases the skill rank of one ally at lvl. 1 (or all allies at lvl. 2 and above), as well as his ultimate greatly reducing the Ultimate Move Gauge of all enemies. The fact that he can also be obtained from the Platinum Coin Shop is a nice bonus.
    • Green units:
      • Halloween Gowther: Add what Red Gowther above has with his own unique passive that allows hm to increase attack-related stats by 7% every turn that stacks for 5 times as long as the team consists of units from different race, he becomes one of, if not the best offensive support in the game. Unlike the red version, however, he's not available in the coin shop since he's a holiday unit.
    • Blue units:
      • Goddess Elizabeth: When combined with Lostvayne Meliodas, any version of Escanor (Red, Green, the One), and Tarmiel, your PvP team cannot die. Ever. (Until the introduction of other Green units like Assault Meliodas (which gives him a stat boost when being attacked and gives the enemy a stacked defense down provided that the team involves him is either a demon clan member or has a commandment), Daughter of Belaluin Merlin (which renders her heal useless and can one-shot her with her Single-Target skill) and Valenti MK. II (which has a skill seal which renders her stun useless, that is). Her first skill stuns the enemy when it is level 2 for a turn, her second skill protects her allies for 2 turns when maxed out at level 3, and her Ultimate Move bounces back the enemies' attacks while it heals all of her allies. The kicker? Her passive skill revives her ally one time from a deadly attack.
      • The One Escanor: When he was finally released during the Global version's First Anniversary, he was considered one of the most broken units in the game. How so? Well, his first skill overpowers Green Escanor's Ultimate move by level 3, his second skill tears his enemies down when his health was low, and his Ultimate move has a death skill in which when an enemy is down by his Ultimate move, the additional damage will be given to any random enemy who has a remaining HP. His passive? A stacking buff that gives a debuff immunity effect when he reaches three stacks, then decays until he’s at one stack, repeating the process for the entire battle.
  • Memetic Mutation: When a collaboration with Stranger Things was announced and the featured units were revealed, many joked about Jim Hopper killing Assault Meliodas and The One Escanor because of how blatantly out of left field his fighting style was compared to other Stranger Things unitsnote . The jokes came full circle when he turns out to be a very good offensive support unit for collaboration characters with his unique passive (death match excluded) and a decent control unit himself with ultimate gauge drain and stun on his two attacks.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • The release of Assault Meliodas on Global server received backlash from its playerbase for being released too early after the banners of Festival King and both Sariel and Tarmiel. It didn't help that Youtubers like Seatin and Nagato opted to not spend their money as protest for the upcoming release of Assault Meliodas.
  • Unexpected Character: While other events had characters that made some sense interacting with the world, the announcement of an event that included the cast of Stranger Things got the immediate attention of people outside of the main playerbase for how straight out of left field it was for the Sins to interact with a live-action series based in the 1980s, all of whom have been given a makeover to match the art style. Most pointed out the only thing the two series have in common is that they are among the more popular offerings on Netflix. Special mention has to be given to Jim Hopper, who fights with 80s era guns instead of psychic powers (Eleven) or medieval weaponry (Will).
