YMMV / The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary

Go To

  • Good Bad Bugs: Getting blown up by a flamethrower in the Acid Test, once you have the flask of green gas, destroys the Acid Test... but the player still has the flask of green gas. This saves a lot of the trouble of escaping the Acid Test.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The sequence where the player takes the doll only to be sucked into its mouth in a color-shifting vortex was noted to give children and adults both nightmares. Even in modern-day Lets Plays, the players will frequently warn for the scary scene coming up and include an option to skip it. The Unintentional Uncanny Valley look of the dolls and the more realistic characters are also pretty good fuel.
  • That One Puzzle:
    • An algebra minigame in my kiddie Edutainment Game? Tax Factor regularly stumps adults doing Lets Plays or walkthroughs unless played as B. Ginner.
    • There's also Disc Appear, which is sure to be a showstopper for anyone unfamiliar with the underlying mechanics of the Game of Nim. Oddly enough, D. Feecult mode actually makes it easier, since the item you need for the Elixir in that game is the item you get when you lose.
  • Undesirable Prize: Losing at Discappear nets the player one of the Beach Dudette's terrible Compact Discs, such as Tiny Tim: The Vegas Years or Ukulele Bob Alone at Last.
