• Captain Obvious Reveal: The author admitted that the reveal that Beldam was the one who attacked Vivian was a pretty obvious reveal, considering that she fit the bill the best.
• Fridge Brilliance: Vivian not developing feelings for Mario might seem strange, considering that it's implied that his other female partners still have their own crushes on him (although Goombella later loses those feelings). But remember what caused her to gain those feelings in canon: Mario was pretty much the first person to ever treat her kindly, naturally leading to her falling for him. Here, however, she already has a pretty solid support network and Mario helping her find the Super Bob-omb was removed (since she'd have no reason to look for it), meaning that much of their journey in Twilight Town was spent with Vivian helping Mario, which she'd most likely see as just helping out someone in need. Additionally, since she already knows who Mario is, she also most likely knows about his relationship with Peach, meaning that she's aware he's off the table when it comes to romance.
