YMMV / The Sand

• Ensemble Dark Horse: Cleo Berry as Gilbert, for his comic relief value and shades of Only Sane Man.
• Romantic Plot Tumor: One of the biggest issues with the film is that the main cast will not stop bringing up their relationships with each other when they should be worrying about the monster that is trying to eat them.
• Rooting for the Empire: Many people get so fed up with the main cast bickering with one another, along with their stupid decisions throughout the film, that they just want the monster to eat them.
• Narm: While some of the deaths are genuinely gruesome, Special Effect Failure rears its head at times, and the constant pauses in action to instead devote time to bickering about the main cast's relationship issues are unbearable.
• The Woobie: Gilbert suffers quite a lot throughout the film. He got a penis drawn on his head, and spends most of the movie in a barrel which he later dies in, until he starts to bleed from it being too small for his size, and the blood ends up attracting the monster anyways. Not to mention his gruesome demise.
