YMMV / The Saint (1997)

• Awesome Music: Orbital's awesome techno remix of the classic theme tune.
• Complete Monster: See here.
• Ending Fatigue: The movie continues a full fifteen minutes after the villains are arrested and the conflict is resolved. One US TV broadcast ended the movie just moments later when Emma and Simon reunite at the country house.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: The Russian prostitute and her family have their fans for helping to hide Simon and Emma and providing a decent showcase to the suffering of the average people caused by Tretiak's plan and/or the society in general.
• Questionable Casting: Val Kilmer was widely thought to be a poor fit for Simon Templar, for one thing not being British.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The film uses the alias of Leslie Charteris' greatest character. And that is all. (That Charteris's name does not appear on the credits says pretty much everything.)
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • It is mentioned that Tretiak's other son died in a car accident where Ilya was driving (and drunk) when the Saint is researching them. This could provide a potential avenue for humanizing them, or providing a little bitterness in the father and son's relationship, but it is never referenced again.
  • Frankie and her partner were meeting someone in the sewers to sell those paintings when they run into Simon and Emma. There could have been a nice gag there of those people showing up during the chase and running into the police to cause some confusion or a Mêlée à Trois.
