YMMV / The S-Classes That I Raised

Go To

  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Hyunjae/Yoojin is the most popular ship in this whole fandom, followed by Yoohyun/Yoojin, and probably Myeongwoo/Yoojin.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Has a lot of crossover with fans of Lout of Count's Family and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, this is due to many reasons—but the particular similarities fans like to cite is the main character being an Unreliable Narrator in the sense that he's incredibly self-deprecating because he sees himself as being more selfish and sleazy than their selfless actions imply. This includes practically building a Found Family under the pretense of taking mistreated or unique individuals under his wing to use their abilities to his advantage, when it's also shown clearly that he genuinely loves and cares for them. Not to mention his actions include him being incredibly self-sacrificial to the point that his companions (or family members, really) have to reign him in so he takes care of himself. Oh, and this perception of the protagonist towards himself is usually a result of their past traumatic experiences that is slowly unveiled towards the readers gradually throughout the narrative regarding how severe it was and how much it really affected them.
    • It's also popular among fans of isekai and other fantasy series where people have video game mechanics for powers.
  • Incest Yay Shipping: At least in Korean fandom, Yoohyun/Yoojin is one of the most popular ship in S Class. It helps that both of them have brother-complex with each other. Yoojin has a near unconditional love for Yoohyun and will always see the best in him. Yoohyun in turn has deep Yandere tendencies for his hyung, getting jealous of anyone who takes his attention away.
  • Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Yoojin. We have the most obvious one like Sung Hyunjae, Han Yoohyun, Yoo Myeongwoo, Song Taewon, and Noah on the male side. For a lesser degree, there's also Kim Sunghan, Riette, and Moon Hyuna.
  • The Woobie: Many characters can qualify.
    • Yoojin, his parents died early, causing him to work so he can pay for his and Yoohyun's education, and ended up drop out from Highschool so he could focus with making money for Yoohyun's college. After the Dungeon Break, Yoohyun severed their bond to keep Yoojin safe, causing him to fell into depression. It's all started because Yoojin refused to ignore his little brother, and in turn got ignored by their parents altogether.
    • Yerim also lost her parents. And she just have to ended up in her abusive uncle's house who rarely take care of her.
    • Myeongwoo, who are in despair, committed suicide and accidentally awakened. Even after that, he still lives miserably because he's just F-rank before he met Yoojin. Yoojin even noted that Myeongwoo may not be able to hold on for too long if they didn't meet.
  • Values Dissonance: Yoojin takes potshots against Japan at every opportunity and refers to Japanese people with derogatory terms. While not surprising considering the relationship between Korea and Japan, it seems to reflect the priorities of the author more than the priorities of the story. It can come off as unnecessary for the narrative, out of character, or otherwise just plain jarring; reader beware. The Manhwa removed most of these Japanese bashing seem to be the author acknowledging this.
