You have an Unlucky Everydude protagonist who gets in a lot of wacky hijinx with a Naive Every Girl and her Jerk with a Heart of Gold female friend. Much of the major events in the plot are also very by the book, like the main male protagonist having a girl he befriended long ago suddenly start to pop up again.
