- The Governor in "Cell 13" is played by Michael Gough (Alfred Pennyworth in Batman (1989)).
- Peter Vaughan played Dorrington in "The Affair of the Avalanche Bicycle & Tyre Co. Ltd" and "The Case of the Mirror of Portugal", one of the few characters to appear in more than one episode. Game of Thrones fans will recognise him as Maester Aemon Targaryen.
- Paul Eddington (Hamer in "The Case of the Mirror of Portugal") would later find fame as in Jerry Leadbetter and Jim Hacker.
- A maid from "Madame Sara" is played by Brenda Cowling, who would later be best known for playing Mrs. Lipton in You Rang, M'Lord?.
- Ali from "The Duchess of Wiltshire's Diamonds" is played by Dino Shafeek, who would later be best known for playing Muhammed in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum and Ali Nadeem in Mind Your Language.
- A lost property man from "The Case of Laker, Absconded" is played by Leslie Dwyer, who would later be best known for playing Mr. Partridge in Hi-de-Hi!.
- Colonel Sandstream from "The Assyrian Rejuvenator" is played by Michael Bates, who would later be best known for playing Blamire in Last of the Summer Wine and Rangi Ram in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum.
- Inspector Illingsworth from "Ripening Rubies" is played by Windsor Davies, who would later be best known for playing Sergeant Major Williams in It Ain't Half Hot, Mum.
