YMMV / The Ring: Terror's Realm

Go To

  • Memetic Mutation: The "Dalad Jelly" sign in the cafeteria.
  • Narm: Weird character design, weird dialogue, FMV sequences with terrible voice acting, a plot about a VR game in something related to The Ring, it's definitely not something to be taken too seriously.
    • The infamous cartoon SPLAT sound effect in the title screen when you start the game.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Terror's Realm does have a potentially interesting storyline and graphics that mostly held up with the standards of the time, but it mostly comes across as just plain bizarre bordering on ridiculous (admittedly not helped by the poor English localization and character design), while the gameplay makes it feel like a sub-par Resident Evil clone.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The game has interesting ideas such as two worlds, post apocalyptic action horror hybrid, and virtual reality. However the presentation left so much to be desired.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: Reviews at the time (and some today) all came to the consensus that it's a Resident Evil clone that's serviceable at best.
