• Alternate Character Interpretation: Whether Chancellor Vernham is being manipulated by Corporal Zubak or vice versa. Zubak puts her on the path to Far Right politics, isolationism, and alternative medicine but it seems very much like Vernham just wants him to say what she already was leaning to anyway.
• Ambiguous Situation: The nature of Oskar's relationship to Elena is never clarified. Elena mentions "co-parenting" with Agnes multiple times, implying some sort of negotiated arrangement between them; Oskar's appearance might suggest that he's Elena's biological son for whom Agnes served as surrogate. But it's never actually spelled out on-screen.
• The Woobie: Oskar. When Elena forbids anything except folk/traditional medicine, and Agnes is no longer able to provide his epilepsy medication, he has a seizure. Then Elena usurps Agnes in her mother role, allowing them only brief daily visits. The fifth episode has the coup. He is abandoned to an Uncertain Doom, as Elena leaves him behind when she escapes and Agnes is killed while she tries to find him.
