- Genius Bonus: "False Cadence" is a bit of a Spoiler Title—in music the more exact term "deceptive cadence" indicates a fake-out by the composer that suggests a tonal resolution from the dominant chord to a tonic cord, but instead moves from the dominant chord to something else. In other words, it is the musical form of a Subverted Trope and in this case represents The End of the Beginning, alluded to with the final chapter's title ("D.C. al Coda," or, "Go back to the beginning").
