• Awesome Art: The interior of the Planet Eater is spectacular, some of Curt Swan's best work. He also does a great job with nice!Brainiac's facial expressions. He genuinely looks like a benevolent and repentant person — and his visible reaction at the prospect of turning evil again is heartbreaking.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Superman fights a giant planet-eating orange mechanism four years before The Transformers: The Movie came up with Unicron.
