  • Audience-Alienating Era: Heliocentric/Anthropocentric. While the latter has its share of fans and even its detractors will admit that it has its good qualities, you're not going to find many people who are willing to defend the former.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Loic Rosetti; is he a good vocalist lumped in with the unpopular shift in sound in Heliocentric, or does he have weak singing and growls that are too hardcore-influenced?
  • Broken Base:
    • Is Pelagial a great album or will they never recover post-Heliocentric?
    • Lots of people question whether the first disk in Precambrian is necessary. The second disk comprises of most of the material in dark, long, doomy, symphonic, and intricately composed song structures, while the first disk is 20 minutes of short hardcore songs. Purists state that it's necessary, while many skip the first disk altogether.
  • Epic Riff: "The Origin of Species" and "The Origin of God", which is basically the same.
  • Heartwarming Moments: After publically stating that Pelagial would be instrumental, the band instead decided to include Loic once his voice recovered. and felt he was needed because "he is our frontman".
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Heliocentric/Anthropocentric.
  • Signature Song: "The City in The Sea", at least it is played at many concerts, often as an encore.
  • Win Back the Crowd: After the divided reception to Heliocentric/Anthropocentric, fans were split on Loic Rosetti and many began to wonder if they weren't past their prime. Pelagial addressed all of their fears and was almost universally praised on release, and to this day is still considered one of their best albums, if not the best.
