• Hollywood Homely: Old Christine's bordering-on-bombshell vavoomyness is totally ignored by everyone, even when she's in dresses that show off her hourglass shape and rocking "eff me" boots. Marley and Lindsay are always making fun of how she looks and New Christine is supposed to be more attractive than she is.
• Hollywood Pudgy: Downplayed. Christine’s weight gain in one episode is naturally played up as her having become colossal per sitcom humor; she’s grown a noticeable small belly and a larger ass but she otherwise is not that big. However, it’s pointed out that the bigger issue is that now Christine knows that she is susceptible to gaining weight at a rapid pace and could easily end up truly enormous and genuinely unhealthy before she knows it, hence why she needs to get a handle on it now while she can.
• Moment of Awesome: A meta-example occurred in 2006, when Julia Louis-Dreyfus won a Best Actress Emmy for her role on the show. The first thing she said when she got to the microphone? "Well, I'm not somebody who really believes in curses...but curse this, baby!" It was a reference to "the Seinfeld Curse," a supposed jinx on the careers of the main characters on the show. Not only did Louis-Dreyfus break and acknowledge the curse, she took a sledgehammer to it!
• No Yay : Christine and Matthew have many moments that are just wrong for brother and sister.
• Retroactive Recognition: Christine's ex-husband is Agent Coulson.
• The Woobie: Despite the fact that Old Christine is a crazy drunk, she really does just want everyone to have a good time, such as when she tried to take everyone on a vacation or teach her son's class how to ride the subway. The only problem is that everyone in the world apparently hates her.
