• Actor Shipping: With their natural chemistry together, and both being British, people began shipping Elba and Winslet.
• Grey-and-Gray Morality: Both Ben and Alex are entirely justified in their position regarding to stay/leave the plane site. Ben would know from experience that, yes, the chances are more likely for them to be found if they stay. However, for Alex, who's been in the darkest places in the world, she knows what chances people need to take to survive.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Many people just watch the movie to see Idris Elba and Kate Winslet fall in love. Some people just watch the scene in the cabin.
• Multiple Demographic Appeal: Two of the sexiest stars trapped on top of a mountain together? Ohh, what a nightmare?!
• Narm Charm: Some of the dialogue can be cheesy, but the characters are portrayed so empathically and realistically, that it doesn't even matter.
• Nightmare Fuel: Imagine taking a plane, crashing into the side of a mountain with a complete stranger, and having to make your way down in what would be a weeks-long journey, not knowing if you'll make it out alive.
• Squick: Some of the extents of the injuries.
• What Beautiful Eyes!: Winslet's blue eyes really popped with the blue beanie Alex wore.
