• Awesome Music: Scores like this one make you wonder why Cliff Eidelman hasn't done more adventure movies in his career.
• Cult Classic: A flop when it was first released (it opened on the same day as The Fugitive), it's more fondly remembered as one of the first major sendups of the superhero genre.
• Fridge Brilliance: Earnest Moses helping out Jeff turned out to be a redemption moment for him since he did witness a gang attack but did nothing to prevent it, which resulted in the elderly victim of it being hospitalized. And he wasn't going to let the same thing or worse happen to Jefferson at the hands of the Golden Lords.
• Older Than They Think: What's the first superhero movie with a Black lead? Not Black Panther (2018), Blade (1998) or Spawn (1997) as many would think, or not even the maligned Steel, but this 1993 movie.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Don Cheadle and Eddie Griffin both were relative unknowns when they made this movie.
  • Lela Rochon is Jeff's sexy nurse, prior to being in Waiting to Exhale,
  • The announcer at the mall when Jeff's friend impersonates Meteor Man is an unbilled Chris Tucker.
