- Awesome Music : The main theme, as well as the one of the Hasidic dance, (here in orchestral version) are both recognized as terribly catchy. To the point, in fact, that the Hasidic dance is now part of French Jewish culture and is often performed in Ashkenazi Jewish weddings or Bar Mitzvahs.
- Protagonist Title Fallacy: Given the title itself, it is easy to forget that in the movie, Rabbi Jacob is a different character from the one played by Louis de Funès. Victor Pivert is the main character and he's impersonating Jacob. The real Jacob is played by Marcel Dalio, the film's title is a Secondary Character Title.
- Retroactive Recognition: Gérard Darmon had his second film role here after The Brain (also by Gérard Oury), as one of the henchmen of Farès.
- Signature Scene:
- The chase in the bubblegum factory, with everyone bar Slimane ending up Covered in Gunge.
- The Hasidic dance scene in the Rue des Rosiers.
