• Angst? What Angst?: Jett Mitchell. Kid's mom was murdered in a school where most of the main characters have all had some kind of prior trauma and he isn't half as angst-ridden as his two best friends.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Zoey Kross, Russell Wesley and Blake Smith.
• Hollywood Homely: Rietta, who is picked on for being "ugly" despite being average-looking.
• Jerkass Woobie: Shane and Rietta, especially the latter. Shane saw the girl he used to bully for no reason in a pool of her own blood, and then his cousin on the brink of death after attempting suicide not long after. Rietta is bullied on a regular basis for her looks, was locked in a closet, was poisoned by her best friend's psychotic aunt and a girl died in her garden. Due to the latter incident, the reporters won't give her family a break, and her best friend, who was the only one to truly accept her and tolerate her, attempted suicide. To make matters worse, she is now being harassed by ANOTHER bully, and one of her first Pokemon has been affected by the virus that's being going around. After actually reading about all these events, you can't help but want to give them both a hug. (Though YMMV, of course)
  • Zoey Kross counts as well, being a homeless, lesbian orphan.
• The Scrappy: Lyra Silverson.
• The Woobie: Ethan D'Log. He regularly gets beaten up for his kindness, the girl he loves ignores him for bad boys, and one of his childhood friends is murdered by a drunken psycho.
  • Logan himself counts, as a terrorist organization is after his soul, and one of his friends, and his ex-girlfriend are murdered.
