YMMV / The Last Days (of the Third Age of Middle Earth)

  • Game-Breaker:
    • Focusing on the charisma stat and the leadership skill allows to increase faster the Arbitrary Headcount Limit. Then, if a player linked with Mordor or Dol Guldur hire only Orcs, the limit is increased even further. It grants a character weak in one VS one combat but able to command a literal Zerg Rush
    • Wargs are a mount for Orc armies. Contrary to horses (which only wander on the battlefield when their riders are dead, sometimes randomly hitting and slightly hurting a soldier), Wargs keep on running and charging their enemies when the rider is dead. They are also tougher than horses. It means that a horse rider should be considered as a single unit, but a Warg rider as two soldiers.
  • Obvious Beta:
    • There are some occasional problems, such as game crashes and corrupt saves. Additionally, some siege maps have spots where a player can get stuck, or enemies spawn behind a wall, making them nearly impossible to hit/kill, forcing either the use of a cheat or abandoning the siege fight when the player is otherwise on the verge of winning.
    • The game allows to play with a female character but some armors lack a "female" model, making a female Black Númenórean chest and arms looking like a graphical mess when wearing them. Some were eventually fixed by the last update, however.
    • Each time Saruman orders the player to capture a Troll, he gives him a wheeled-cage, not verifying if the player already has one. Note also that completing the quest does not make the item disappear.
  • Quicksand Box: While in contrast to the base game, the mod has a direct goal (win the War of the Ring), the war does not start until you hit a certain level threshold (defaults to 8) and so the early levels can be paralyzing in the same way as the base Mount & Blade.
