YMMV / The Krion Conquest

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The music may not be as catchy as its inspiration, but there's still plenty of good tunes. Stage 1, round 1, for instance.
  • Cult Classic: Not as polished as Mega Man games, but a lot of Mega Man fans still enjoy it. Probably due to the familiar gameplay.
  • Friendly Fandoms: You’d figure that, being a Mega Man clone, that the Mega Man fans wouldn’t like it. You’re wrong — many fans enjoy the game. Someone even created a ROM hack of the game that swaps Francesca with Mega Man himself.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The ending for the game has Francesca escaping from Empress Elsyia's space fortress via an escape pod as the space fortress itself explodes constantly from the outside before its inevitable destruction and once that happens, Francesca is then happily surprised, via use of the escape pod's own small transmitting monitor, to learn that Kagemaru is still alive and recovering. The entire scenario itself pretty much predates Mega Man X4's own ending minus the bittersweet aspects of it and that the animation scene of the space fortress' destruction is almost identical to the same animation scene of Mega Man X4's own credits scene.
  • Moe: Francesca/Doropie looks cute both in artworks and 8-bit graphics. Too bad the American version removed most of them.
  • Older Than They Think: This game actually beat Mega Man 4 to the Charge Shot. It also got more directions to shoot, much like Bass's abilities to shoot in any direction in Mega Man & Bass.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Francesca's Jump controls and physics are very weird. She has no momentum or give to her jumps. In order to get a full jump in the game, the player has to hold the button all the way through. Letting off the button at any moment cuts her jump momentum right there and she drops. Firing her weapon in mid-jump also completely stops her momentum, rendering it near impossible to jump and fire at the same time, in a game where being able to jump and shoot are critical.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Encyclopedia Obscura, at least, mistook Kagemaru for a girl. It's an easier mistake to make if you're only familiar with The Krion Conquest, which didn't mention his name (the -maru is masculine).
