  • Awesome Music:
    • Psychocandy, Darklands, Automatic, and Honey's Dead are all full of it. Stoned & Dethroned and Munki have their moments as well.
    • The Power of Negative Thinking features some B-sides, demos and non-album singles that are as good if not better than most of their album tracks.
  • Epic Riff: You're not going to forget "Just Like Honey", "You Trip Me Up", "Happy When It Rains", "Down on Me", "Head On" and "Blues from a Gun" very easily.
  • First Installment Wins: Every one of their records has their fans, but Psychocandy is considered the band's stone cold masterpiece, and every record after is either "very good" or just "good".
  • No Such Thing as Bad Publicity: "Reverence" was banned from play on BBC Radio 1 for lines like "I wanna die just like Jesus Christ". It became a hit in the UK.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Their drummer for Psychocandy was Bobby Gillespie, who had also recently started Primal Scream. The Reids made him choose between them or Primal Scream, and he chose the latter. Primal Scream broke out in 1991 with Screamadelica.
  • Tough Act to Follow: The band understood that the Psychocandy lightning couldn't strike twice, so they didn't bother trying to and simply changed their style. Darklands is acclaimed in its own right, but it's also largely agreed that they never broke as much ground as they did first time.
  • Vindicated by History: Automatic. It was considered a ridiculous dud first time through, but over the years people realized just how damn fun it is.
