YMMV / The Island at the Top of the World

• Cult Classic: The film only made a small profit and is rarely hyped up by Disney today, but the dynamics between the cast and powerful cinematography and effects, as well as how its plot and tone are more adventurous than many Disney movies of the era, make it stand out to some fans.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While it's not particularly loved (or known) in the United States, this film found more fans in Europe, with it being a notable inspiration for the remade Disneyland France (the Hyperion is the centerpiece of a themed cafe, even).
• The Scrappy: The Team Pet poodle isn't liked that much by most people, who view her as an overly Disney element in a film that otherwise tries not to seem too much like typical Disney fare.
