YMMV / The Inspector

Go To

  • Bizarro Episode: The series' final installment, "Carte Blanched", has a plot very atypical of the series. There is no bad guy to be stopped, no evil plot to be foiled, nor do any of the rest of the series' cast appear besides the Inspector. Just a comic plot wherein the Inspector is convinced by an offscreen (and evidently malignant) narrator that he has accidentally stolen a cart from the local supermarket and goes on the lam.
  • Broken Aesop: The message of "London Derriere" is that police officers can't do their job properly without guns. Except that — aside from the difficulty presenting this aesop in a setting where being shot doesn't have any worse consequences for the victim than getting soot on their face — the Inspector spends most of the plot in situations where a gun isn't necessary to do his job, meaning that the aesop instead comes across as one about how arming police officers can make them resort to lethal force in situations where it isn't needed, which is almost certainly the opposite of what the writer intended.
