YMMV / The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Burbank Animation)

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Pheobus doesn't prove Esmeralda's innocence until the end. Is it because he was too ashamed to mention it originally, or was he disoriented from the "stabbing"?
  • Awesome Music: A surprisingly common staple of Burbank Films in general. The opening theme of this movie is gothic and epic at the same time.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Esmeralda apologizing for judging Quasimodo ugly by his face alone, and the ending where she tells him that True Beauty Is on the Inside.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Admit it - you thought that Quasimodo wearing green, Esmeralda in danger of being burned at the stake as opposed to hanged and everyone except Frollo being Spared by the Adaptation were unique to the Disney version, didn't you? Nope - they appeared here first.
  • Tear Jerker: Quasimodo's talk with Esmeralda, where he tells her that he knows how ugly he is, and that he would have preferred having no eyes at all, so that he wouldn't be able to see how people react when they see him.
  • Ugly Cute: Far from being The Grotesque, this version of Quasimodo looks and moves a little like a monkey. Seriously, just look at him.
  • The Woobie: Esmeralda.
