YMMV / The Granstream Saga

Go To

  • Breather Boss: Levante is the easiest boss in the game, as all he does is moving around the four magic circles and cast a spell that can be easly blocked with your shield and leaves him vulnerable for a few seconds.
  • Complete Monster: Levante is a high-ranking member of the Imperial Wizardry army tasked with sinking the floating continent Aquas. Going further beyond than his fellow commanders, Levante uses his powers to brainwash a woman named Selela into starting a cult, the Kel, built entirely around himself, promising his followers his own brand of Heaven should they allow Aquas to sink and kill everybody inhabiting it. Regularly sacrificing people, Levante forces "heathens" who refuse to worship him into working in his obsidian mines. After Eon and company arrive to stop him, Levante manipulates the Kel and the Pikshim townsfolk into starting a war, even attempting to have Selela's son Afto killed to boost morale amongst the Kel. Feeling he has no use for Selela anymore, Levante traps her and Eon in a crystal to die a slow death.
  • Disappointing Last Level: The last dungeon, Hades, is just a long corridor filled with unavoidable battles leading to the final boss.
  • Game-Breaker: Onimaru, the most powerful weapon in the game, can be obtained very early in the game (at the church's basement by using a Cat's Eye at the right spot).
  • Goddamned Bats: Blobs. They aren't strong, but are fast and hard to hit, making the battles last much longer than necessary.
  • Goddamned Boss: The final boss is more annoying than hard. While his attacks are easy to dodge, he possess a total of 14 life bars and spend most time outside your attack range, where he taunts you with his Evil Laugh.
  • Narm: The faceless character models make any scene that was supposed to be serious or dramatic look silly, and they are the most remembered thing about this game.
