YMMV / The Goddess of Spring

Go To

  • Narm: It seems that the animators' first attempts at drawing human characters weren't quite up to snuff, as Persephone is shown with Rubber-Hose Limbs.
  • Narm Charm: The short's operatic tendencies and over-dramatization, while criticized by some, are points of admiration from others.
  • Unintentional Uncanny Valley: This was Disney's first attempt at drawing a human character completely from scratch (in this case, the eponymous goddess). However, her face is a bit expressionless at times, and she moves her limbs in ways that look like she doesn't have any bones. This was apparently the reason why Disney resorted to rotoscoping for later works.
  • Vindicated by History: Reportedly this short was a flop when it first came out, but nowadays it's definitely one of the more famous Silly Symphonies (perhaps because it was a precursor to a very famous Disney movie...).
