• Ass Pull: DeVoe's Evil Plan seems to fly in the face of his previous characterization. Early in the season, DeVoe was motivated by humanity wasting its intellectual potential, and spent a sizable amount of the season dying and hooked up to machinery. Now he's a luddite and is revealed to have been one all along, who wants to destroy technology...by removing the intelligence of everyone on Earth, which would just enhance the problem he initially saw as so debilitating in the first place.
• Catharsis Factor: Marlize finally turning her back on DeVoe after several episodes' worth of manipulation and drugging at his hands.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: After weeks of building up DeVoe using the memory-erasing tears on Marlize, her finally turning on him has absolutely nothing to do with it.
